Banca Națională a României (BNR)

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) is the country’s central bank, established in 1880 and headquartered in Bucharest. Its primary mandate is to ensure price stability, while also fulfilling key functions in banking regulation and supervision, management of international reserves, currency issuance and oversight of payment systems.
A member of the European System of Central Banks, BNR applies an inflation targeting strategy and operates across monetary and foreign exchange markets, contributing to Romania’s financial stability and its ongoing process of integration into the euro area.
