ICMET Craiova

With over half a century of activity in Romanian research, ICMET Craiova is the only institution in the country and in South-Eastern Europe that has maintained its activity of evaluating the performance of high-voltage and high-current electrotechnical equipment.
Currently, the institute includes two large laboratories: the High Voltage Laboratory (LIT) and the High Power Laboratory (LMP), through which it constitutes a critical research infrastructure for the functioning and security of the national electro-energetic system, with full state capital. The institute holds over 30 patents applied to the equipment it has manufactured and has a number of 117 employees.
ICMET Craiova has over 50 years of experience and expertise in testing electro-energetic equipment, monitoring and diagnostic installations for electro-energetic equipment, special electro-mechanical equipment and the application of unconventional technologies, being a founding member of two non-governmental organizations headquartered at ICMET: ACER – The Association for Electromagnetic Compatibility in Romania and RTS – The Romanian Society of Thermoelectricity.
Essential landmarks in the history and performance of a traditional institute that has served, over time, the entire Romanian electrotechnical industry, but also the existing potential, its capacity to reform and consolidate its position as a strategic partner domestically and internationally make ICMET Craiova a Competence Center in the field of Research-Development, testing and calibration of electrotechnical products, recognized both nationally and internationally through accreditations at European level in the field of high voltage, high current and Electromagnetic Compatibility tests on low, medium and high voltage equipment.
